Our rescue heard about this horse who was severely malnourished and in a terrible state. When we arrived, the sight was heartbreaking. His ribs were visible, his coat was dull, and he had a look of desperation in his eyes. We knew we had to act quickly to save him. We loaded him up in our trailer and brought him to Equine Harmony Rescue and Rehab. We were given a folder of papers that detailed who his previous owners were. To our surprise, there was a list of what he was supposed to get in his grain, including pricey supplements. It was clear that at some point, someone had cared deeply for him. We called the numbers and found out that his first owner loved him very, very much. He was kept in excellent condition, as you can see in the bottom photo. She had given him to her daughter, thinking he would continue to be well cared for. However, her daughter ended up selling him for a very cheap price, and that's when his life took a turn for the worse. He ended up in a terrible home where he was neglected and mistreated. The contrast between his past and present was devastating. Seeing him in such a heartbreaking condition after knowing how well he was once cared for made the situation even more tragic. The pain in his eyes told a story of suffering and abandonment, and it was clear that he had lost all hope. Our hearts ached for him, and we gave him the love and care he so desperately needed.
