Equine Harmony Rescue & Rehab was born out of a deep love for horses and a desire to give them a second chance. The inspiration came from Maverick, a trail horse I worked with who developed lameness due to navicular issues. When I learned that he was being sent back to the seller, I worried about what his future might hold. Would he be passed from owner to owner? Would he end up at auction, facing an uncertain fate—or worse, a kill pen?
I couldn’t let that happen. That fear, combined with my passion for horses, drove me to take action. I founded Equine Harmony Rescue & Rehab, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to saving at-risk horses from kill pens, neglect, and abandonment in April of 2018. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome horses, ensuring they receive the love and care they deserve.
Maverick’s story is just one of many, and with each horse we save, we honor his legacy.
